Ethiopia nears completion of a massive dam – will this event begin to fulfill Isaiah’s prophecy of the drying up of the Nile and the rule of Egypt by a cruel master, the Antichrist?

The Drying Up of the Nile

Ethiopia is close to completing Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which will be the largest hydroelectric power plant in Africa. Egypt is greatly concerned by this development, because the Nile is its lifeblood.

According the MEMRI, “From the Egyptian perspective, any change in the volume of its water could have devastating effects on Egypt. The vast majority of Egyptians live in a valley which is about 4 percent of the Egyptian territory, and 95 percent of Egypt’s water resources are derived from the Nile.

Egypt has opposed thus project since it’s conception in the early 2000s. But with Ethiopia planning to start filling the dam this month (July), the threat of reduced water supply is becoming real.

Unfortunately for Egypt, Ethiopia is not alone. Tanzania and Kenya are also proposing projects that will draw water from the Nile. They need more water to support their groping population and counter years of drought.

Could this event have been prophesied by a Biblical prophet?

Isaiah’s Prophecy for the End-Times

The prophet Isaiah wrote a startling prophecy about Egypt in the end-times about tribulation and redemption. In this prophecy the Nile dries up.

The waters from the sea will dry up,
And the river will be parched and dry.
The canals will emit a stench,
The streams of Egypt will thin out and dry up;
The reeds and rushes will rot away.
The bulrushes by the Nile, by the edge of the Nile
And all the sown fields by the Nile
Will become dry, be driven away, and be no more.
And the fishermen will lament,
And all those who cast a line into the Nile will mourn,
And those who spread nets on the waters will pine away [languish].
(Isaiah 19:5-10)

Is the creation of the Ethiopian dam the event that will started the drying up of the Nile?

But more startling is that if the drying of the Nile is approaching, then the Antichrist’s rule is also approaching.

The Antichrist Will Rule Egypt

Before the lines of prophecy concerning the drying up of the Nile, Isaiah said, “I will deliver the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel master, And a mighty [fierce] king will rule over them…” (Isaiah 19:4)

This is consistent with Daniel’s prophecy of the King of the North, which is a reference to the Antichrist. Daniel wrote, “Then he [the King of the North] will stretch out his hand against other countries, and the land of Egypt will not escape” (Daniel 11:42).

Daniel identifies the King of the North as a ruler from Asia Minor, or modern day Turkey. This is the same area that Ezekiel identifies as the source of the Antichrist.

Current events are aligning with Biblical prophecy. We are seeing Turkey appearing to morph into Daniel 11’s King of the North. I wrote of this in the posts, Antichrist Alliance of the Middle East Forming, QT – Antichrist Alliances – Turkey Opposes Egypt, and QT – Antichrist Alliances – Turkey and Iran.

There was an intriguing quote in the MEMRI article from an anonymous senior Egyptian official. He was quoted as saying, “hidden fingers known to the Egyptian side are openly inciting the traditional allies of Egypt in the Nile Basin to annul the agreement…

Turkish President Erdogan has opposed Egypt ever since the military ousted Muslim Brotherhood affiliated Mohamed Morsi. With this in mind, I have to wonder if his are the “hidden fingers.”
